What are some animals you've seen while on a hike?
This was taken a few years ago in Cades Cove. There were a lot of deer out on that visit, but I've also seen bears there.
The buck I saw before her was pretty calm about people being nearby, and lingered munching on grass for a while. But when she came out, she was much more skittish, and didn't stay long before she spotted me and darted.
I saw a black bear while in Alaska--he walked out of the forest, snatched a salmon trying to jump up a waterfall in a river, and disappeared back into the trees.
I'd love to see a bison one day (from afar). My trip to Yellowstone in 2020 was canceled, but hopefully soon!
